Hamilton became famous in conjunction with the development of the American railways. As the country built its most important infrastructure, Hamilton began to provide accurate watches to prevent and reduce accidents by synchronizing railroad timetables.
Innovation is one of the keys to Hamilton’s success: some of its important developments changed the watchmaking world forever in the middle of the 20th century. In 1957, the Ventura became the world’s first electric watch powered by a battery and in 1970 the Pulsar, the world’s first digital LED watch, was born.
